Video: I Wayne – Real And Clean / Can’t Satisfy Her (NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert) 2011

This is beautiful. I Wayne first made a splash in 2004 after the release of “Can’t Satisfy Her”; with his messages of peace and love, he’s largely credited with bringing the roots and rock back to mainstream reggae. Starting with “Real and Clean,” from his recent Life Teachings, he captivated us with his smooth voice, supported only by an acoustic guitar. Then he got the NPR audience grooving with “Can’t Satisfy Her,” which closed with the crowd singing the words to the chorus. It might have been a rainy day outside, but I Wayne still brought island warmth into our office, even if only for a few minutes.

Update: Gaza Slim slapped with two charges, Gaza Slim’s lawyers heading to court

The embattled entertainer Gaza Slim was slapped with two charges attempting to pervert the course of justice and Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice yesterday by the Constant Spring Police.

This came after a ruling yesterday by the Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey that the entertainer who has been in custody since Monday be charged or released by 4pm today.

The charges are related to reports that the Port more Empire entertainer made to the police.  It is alleged that Gaza Slim told the police that she was robbed by Clive Lizard Williams, the same man her Portmore Empire boss Vybz Kartel is charged for allegedly murdering.

Police say they have seized a cellular phone which contains a message instructing her to concoct the story that she was robbed.

Gaza slim was named as a person of interest by the police on December 1, 2011 and was asked to turn herself in.

Lawyers for the embattled entertainer Gaza slim are heading back to court.

This follows a submission of habeas corpus in a Resident Magistrate yesterday

Gaza Slim’s lawyers say up to this morning she had not yet been questioned.

The DJ was schedule to be questioned yesterday but her lawyers say this fell through.

Gaza slim was named as a person of interest by the police last week and was asked to turn herself in.

December 25 is celebrated as Christmas Day, and high rolling dancehall deejay, Mavado, has a special treat for his fans in Jamaica when he performs at the annual Jagra GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza.

It will mark Mavado’s first performance locally in many months and fans are eager to welcome home the Gully Gad after what they perceive as  a too-long absence. It will be a red carpet style welcome for the deejay, who, despite a lack of physical presence, has remained deeply entrenched in the hearts, minds and on the lips of fans with his popularsongs blasting the airwaves.

“We were very happy to secure Mavado for the show this year,” said promoter, GT Taylor. “We have been watching his progress this year, in particular, and recognize that Mavado is one of the artistes making big strides overseas andthat is definitely good for dancehall,” GT, the Dancehall Master, added.

Mavado will be headlining a strong lineup of artistes on ‘Extravaganza’ and he is as excited  about the event as his fans.“There is no place like home,” says the artiste who has been keeping company overseas with the likes of DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Ace Hood and Busta Rhymes.“What better way to spend Christmas than at Extravaganza with my fans? It willbe the Gully Gad as you have never seen him before,” David Brooks, aka Mavado,promised.

Since having his US visa “un-revoked” and his major signing with Dj Khaled, Mavado has been repping well for the dancehall genre Stateside, pushing pundits tocall 2011 ‘The Year of Mavado’. He has been seen at many of the happeningevents and has done several collaborations with big name overseas acts. Reports are that Survivor, a collabo with Akon, is due out before year end.

However, the deejay promises that 2012 will see him doing even greater things. He isquoted in a press release as saying: “Next year is going to be huge forme. I’ve been in the US putting in a lot of work both in the studio and in thestreets and we’re expecting a big 2012. I’ve taken a conscious decision to stayfar from anything and anybody negative, a just mi music and mi family mi a focus pon.”

The deejay has upcoming performances in the UK, Caribbean and Central America, Zimbabwe and Kenya, prior to making his way back home for Jagra GT TaylorChristmas Extravaganza. Last weekend saw him at We The Best Music boss DJKhaled’s birthday bash at Club Mansion on South Beach, Miami, where heperformed alongside Rick Ross, Puff Daddy, Ace Hood and Meek Mills. On FridayDecember 2, he is scheduled to represent at the annual Jingle Jam concertpresented by Connecticut’s biggest Hip Hop and R’n'B station Hot 93.7 FM.

Jagra GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza takes place on December 25 at Independence Park, Black River, St Elizabeth. Among the artistes on the lineup are BountyKiller, I-Octane, Coco Tea, John Holt, Romain Virgo, Khago, Hezron, Chuck Fenda, Twin of Twins, Wayne Marshall,Iley Dread, Lutan Fyah, Professor Nuts, Warrior King, Villa Dutch, Specialistand a host of others. Leading the charge for the females will be Spice, MackaDiamond, D’Angel and Toya.

BREAKING NEWS: VYBZ KARTEL ESCAPED FROM PRISON, NOW LISTED AS JAMAICA’S MOST WANTED!?

In the biggest prison escape in Jamaica history, on 30 November 2011 in Jamaica, at Horizon Adult Remand Centre on Spanish Town Road, its alleged that Dancehall star Vybz Kartel, who had been charged of offenses including several murders and ganja possession, escaped from the prison along with 7 other prisoners.

One prison officer died of a heart attack as a result of the escape and twelve others were injured, including two who were shot with guns that had been smuggled into the prison.

Shortly after 1:00 am, Vybz Kartel, whose given name is Adidja Palmer, took control of the jail holding the prison guards hostage at gunpoint. Some of the prisoners took the guards clothing and car keys in order to help with their escape.

The group of prisoners also impersonated prison officers on the phone and created false stories to ward off suspicion from authorities

The Police gave chase resulting in the capture of one of the prisoners.

At about 1:45 am, they eventually made their way to the prison maintenance pickup-truck which they used to escape from the prison ground.

The escape occurred during the slowest period of the night when there would be less surveillance of certain locations like the maintenance area.

News in the street is that the Force Commissioner, who heads the Criminal Investigations Branch, said that the artiste and the other escapees are now on the run and are listed as “Jamaica’s most wanted criminals.”

Palmer, who has been in custody since October 1, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal possession of firearm arising from the death of Barrington Burton, a St Catherine businessman/promoter. Burton was shot and killed while standing with friends in Gregory Park, St Catherine, in July.

Also, Kartel along with fellow Portmore Empire artiste, Shawn Storm, his designer/booking agent, Calvin “Moonie” Haye and Cayro Jones appeared simultaneously in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrates Court. Each of the men was charged with murder in relation to the killing of Clive “Lizard” Williams in Havendale, St. Andrew this past August.

Persons seeing or knowing the whereabouts of any of the escapees including the deejay are asked to contact detectives at the Spanish Town Police Station, Kingfish at 811, Crime Stop at 311 or Police Control at 119.

Popcaan No Longer A Member Of The Gaza? Popcaan Now Being Managed By Shocking Vibes

Its being reported today that Vybz Kartel Protege Popcaan is now being exclusively booked by Veteran entertainment manger Patrick Roberts of Shocking Vibes. An a full management deal is being worked on. This recent move as lead to speculations that he has cut ties with his boss Vybz Kartel.

Vybz Kartel Charged With Murder

Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) investigators this evening charged Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adijah Palmer, with murder, illegal possession of firearm and conspiracy to murder.

The charges against Palmer were made following the conduct of an interview this afternoon by detectives from the MIT in the presence of his attorneys.

The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer along with other men conspired to murder Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton , a 27-year-old businessman and promoter of a Gregory Park address in St. Catherine.

Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park.
